Zombieland: Double Tap - Road Trip Announced For PS4

Zombieland: Double Tap is releasing in theatres later this year and just a few days before that, a game based on the franchise is also releasing. Titled Zombieland: Double Tap – Road Trip, the game was announced today for PS4 and will release on October 15, 2019.

Zombieland: Double Tap – Road Trip is a twin-stick shooter that takes place after the first movie. With local co-op for up to four players, you can play as the main cast of the franchise, Tallahassee, Columbus, Witchita, and Little Rock. On top of that, you can unlock some new characters from the upcoming movie. The game will follow the crew as they make their way from the Pacific coast at the end of the first movie to where the sequel picks up.

Wielding a huge arsenal and a number of special abilities, you will take on huge numbers of undead monstrosities in the hopes of surviving. The game will have a story campaign, a wave-based horde mode, and ongoing daily and weekly challenges to keep you coming back and shooting more undead.

The official website for the game states that there are “Over 18 levels & locations.” So, it definitely seems like this will be a smaller title, likely similar in scope to the recently released Stranger Things 3: The Game. The game is being developed by High Voltage Software who have contributed to both Fortnite and Mutant Year Zero: Road To Eden.

There is no trailer for the game at the moment. However, there are a number of screenshots which you can see below:

I am a big fan of the first Zombieland movie and I am excited to see the sequel. It is great to see the franchise make its way into the video game industry, in a genre that fits so well for it. The game sounds a lot like Housemarque’s great Dead Nation.

Zombieland: Double Tap – Road Trip arrives on PS4 on October 15, 2019.
