Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut Is A Timed-Exclusive To Switch 2, So A PS5 Release Could Still Happen

Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut was been confirmed as a timed-exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 following yesterday’s announcement that the critically acclaimed 1980s-set prequel is coming to the hybrid console with new content.

However, the official blurb for the game has now confirmed that it will not be an exclusive, as it’s only ‘coming first to Nintendo Switch 2.’ In other words, Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut could come to PlayStation formats at a later date.

Yakuza 0 was originally related for the PS4 in the west back in 2017, and takes place during 1988, at which point Goro Majima is running The Grand nightclub and Kazuma Kiryu is still a relatively junior member of the Tojo Clan’s Dojima Family. Players follow both characters as their stories interwind in an epic narrative that delves into the backstories of both Majima and Kiryu, both of whom have their own unique fighting styles that evolve over time.

The Director’s Cut will feature new cutscenes and English voiceovers with subtitles available in French, Italian, German, and Spanish. A Red Light Raid online multiplayer mode is also being added, allowing you to team up with friends and take down hordes of foes from a roster of 60 playable characters.
