As the main currency of World of Warcraft, gold can be used for simple tasks like repairing your gear, buying consumables for harder content, or impressing your friends with cool-looking mounts and transmog. Gold can be earned through doing many repeatable tasks, or you can buy WoW gold to skip all time-consuming content and spend time on the content you enjoy. In this article, we will show you what you can spend your gold on depending on your playstyle to enjoy World of Warcraft.
Reagents and Materials
You can buy reagents from vendors located in all major cities and many towns. On the other hand, materials can be purchased from Auction House or gathering profession jobs like mining, herbalism, and fishing. You can craft consumables by combining reagents and materials following a profession recipe. Note that even with reagents and materials, you will need to level up your profession if you want to craft those consumables yourself. The professions are Enchanting, Alchemy, Cooking, Jewelcrafting.
Consumables
Consumables provide a lot of stats and buffs for your characters to tackle harder content of World of Warcraft. Consumables are Enchantments, Phials (or Flasks), Potions, Food, Gems, and Runes. Enchantments and gems are one-time use on gears and last forever. Phials last only a limited time and persist through death. Food and runes last for a limited time but will be lost when your character dies. In higher-difficulty of Mythic+ dungeons or raids, the party leader often asks members to use consumables before going in to improve their character’s damage or survivability.
Besides consumables that benefit combat, there are also illusion and Illusory adornments crafted by enchanting profession. Those can apply visual effects to weapons and shoulders. You can change your illusion anytime though transmog after you learn it. Illusory adornments are temporary and last only a limited time.
If you don’t like cosmetics for your weapons and shoulders, then how about for your dragon mounts? Inscription professionals can create 5 versions of the glyph that can be applied to 4 different Dragonriding mounts. You can freely customize your dragon mounts with these glyphs.
Bind on Equipped Gears
Most of the gear on WoW is either bound on equipped (BoE) or bound on pick-up (BoP). BoE gears can be traded or sold on the auction house. You can buy those items to increase your ilvl or transmog. Some of the BoE items for transmog on the auction house are: Tabard of the Lightbringer, Chromatic Sword, and Teebu’s Blazing Longsword. There are various BoE items with different models and colors for you to choose from and show off your fashion.
Mounts
Currently, there are over 1000 mounts in WoW, many of which are unobtainable. Many mounts are very hard to get but some of them are easy and come with many quality of life. Here are some of the mounts we would recommend you to get because of the utility they provide:
- Vial of the Sands: You will transform into a dragon and can fly while carrying one more person. There are two ways for you to get this mount. You can buy it straight from the auction house for around 60k gold depending on your server. Or you can find the recipe with archeology, farm a bunch of materials, and then craft it with Cataclysm Alchemy.
- Grand expedition Yak: This is a ground mount but it comes with 2 NPC that let you repair and transmog on the go. You can also kick them off and let 2 other players ride along with you. You can buy this one from Uncle Bigpocket located at Kun-Lai Summit in Pandaria with the price of 120k gold.
- Travelet’s Tundra Mammoth: If you don’t want to transmog or you think the Grand Expedition Yak is too expensive, you can buy this one. You can still repair and vendor stuff on the go but only at the cost of 20k gold or 16k gold at max Kirin Tor reputation. You can buy it from Mei Francis in Dalaran city.
Companion (non-combat pets)
Companions in World of Warcraft are small creatures that follow your character. They don’t affect combat but they are eye candy and have their very own battle system. The Pet Battle System allows you to engage in turn-based mini-games using your companion pets. You can capture wild pets and raise them or buy one in the auction house to challenge NPC pet tamers and other players. Some of our favorite pets are Unborn Val’kyr, Stardust, Singing Sunflower, and Smoochums.
