For those of you holding out for the PlayStation Plus edition of Evolution Studios’ Driveclub before a potential full purchase, it looks as if you’re going to be waiting a good while longer.
In a response to a query regarding when the PlayStation Plus edition may appear, the developer said that the current state of the game’s servers would be unable to facilitate the increased congestion created by a potentially free version of PS4’s premier racer.
The news comes after the game’s infamously troublesome launch which saw many aspects of the online play rendered unplayable for a number of weeks, much to the rightful anger of early adopters. And while everything’s fixed on that end, the much-publicised PlayStation Plus edition of the game – a striped-up down free version of the racer – has been put on the backburner for an indefinite amount of time.
@DevilDog1977 We’re getting there, but there’s still a lot of server development needed to support the PS+ Edition.

It still could be a case of better late than ever, especially given the fact that the full version of Driveclub has been on sale at least once since its launch back in October. That said, we’re still hopeful that developer Evolution Studios is still plugging away on those server upgrades to make a free version possible at some point down the line.
Whenever we get any updates, however, you’ll be the first to know.
What’s your opinion of Driveclub? Are you still hopeful of the free version rearing its head?
