Warner Bros. Reportedly Shelves Hogwarts Legacy Director’s Cut & Expansion

Bloomberg is reporting that the planned Hogwarts Legacy expansion and Director’s Cut has been scrapped by Warner Bros., as the company continues to restructure its video game sector.

Hogwarts Legacy Director’s Cut was previously reported as being in the works back in June, with Batman Arkham studio Rocksteady Studios apparently involved in the project alongside Avalanche Software. A later report claimed that this new version of the Wizarding World RPG would feature an additional 10-15 hours of gameplay.

However, it’s now been reported that Warner Bros. has scrapped the plans due to concerns that the price would not be justified the amount of content planned for the DIrector’s Cut. Presumably the sequel to Hogwarts Legacy is still in production.

The news comes amidst news that Warner Bros. had pulled the plug on MultiVersus and Wonder Woman as it plans to focus its efforts on key franchise such as Harry Potter, Mortal Kombat, DC and Game of Thrones.

Hogwarts Legacy was released in February 2023 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, with PS4 and Xbox One versions arriving in July and a Nintendo Switch edition following in November. You can read our full review here.
