The upcoming film based on 2015’s Until Dawn has a release date, and it’ll premiere on April 25, 2025, it’s been announced by Sony owned production house Screen Gems.
More than other video game-to-film adaptations, Until Dawn seems to have moved very quickly. The adaptation was announced back in January, with filming kicking off later in the year in August.
Then at the beginning of this month it was confirmed that filming had officially wrapped, and now less than a month from that announcement we have a release date.
Until Dawn was already so close to a movie when the original game released, and developer Supermassive’s efforts since have been a refinement of the style it established with Until Dawn.
To see Until Dawn becoming a movie can’t help but feel like a full-circle moment for Supermassive and the games they’ve made. How it’s received will be interesting to see, especially after the recent remake of Until Dawn failed to set the world on fire.
