Naughty Dog has offered a rare glimpse at some early concept art for Project Big, the game that would later become known as Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune for PlayStation 3.
Seen below, the art depicts the unnamed hero (this is in the days before Nathan Drake came onto the scene) dangling precariously from some pipes above what appears to be a sewer-like location, while under attack by a group of gun-toting goons.
It’s interesting to note that the location doesn’t really resemble anything that made it into the final game (or any other Uncharted, for that matter), which makes it all the more an intriguing look at the history of one of PlayStation’s most celebrated franchises.
Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune was released on the PS3 in November 2007 and spawned a series that has to date sold over 21 million copies worldwide. The next (and final) chapter in the action-adventure franchise will be released exclusively on PS4 in April 2016 in the shape of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
