Uncharted 4 voice actress speaks out on Nadine Ross casting

Voice actress Laura Bailey has spoken at length about the casting process behind her role in the upcoming Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

Bailey is the talent behind the new character Nadine Ross, a South African mercenary leader who gets caught up in Nathan Drake’s latest adventure. Just in case you haven’t seen her in action, check out some footage: there’s a clip of Nadine chatting with Sully at a posh party, and another of her giving Nate a solid arse kicking

For one reason or another, controversy reared its head after it was discovered that Ross’s character, a black individual, would be voiced by Bailey, who is a white actress. Naughty Dog already delved into its own explanation on the subject, although Bailey has now taken to Twitter to share her own experiences with the casting process.

Check out her Tweet below.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is scheduled for release in North America on April 26 and in the U.K. on April 29. The game takes place a few years after the events of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, and sees Nate and Sully on the hunt for a legendary pirate treasure in Madagascar, while also reuniting with his long-lost brother, Sam.

Developer Naughty Dog has made it clear that this will be the final game to star Nathan Drake, and the future of the series, which has sold over 21 million units to date, remains ambiguous. However, the studio isn’t done with the PS4 yet, stating it has at least one more title to ship for Sony’s current-generation system.
