Ubisoft announces Rainbow Six: Patriots

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Patriots is currently in the works for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 and will be released in 2013, Ubisoft announced today.

The game is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal alongside collaborations between Ubisoft Toronto and Ubisoft Red Storm, and will feature a “dynamic single-player storyline” that will be told by multiple characters.

According to Ubisoft’s David Sears, Patriots will take the franchise in “an exciting new narrative direction,” adding, “This adds an unprecedented level of humanity that will make Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots an extremely tense and immersive experience.”

The enemy this time around are a group of terrorists known as the ‘True Patriots,’ who claim the U.S. government has been compromised by corrupt politicians.

Players will have to make “tough ethical decisions” in order to neutralize the terrorist threat, which ties in with earlier rumors of morality choices being featured in the sequel. Fans can also look forward to an “innovative” co-op/multiplayer experience.
