Star Ocean developer tri-Ace has posted up a new job listing at the company, suggesting the Japanese studio is hiring for a PS5 game.
The job calls for a 3D VFX artists to help “create future action RPGs with the high-quality and exhilarating presentation of next-gen consoles. “We don’t wait for commercial engines to support new platforms like PS5, we develop [the engine] ourselves.”
tri-Ace’s previous effort was the 2016 PS4 outing Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness, so it’s been a good five years since the studio has released a mainline title. We did get an enhanced version of Star Ocean: First Departure R, although that project was a remake of the original game first release on the PSP.

The first Star Ocean title was released in Japan in 1996, and Square Enix has indicated that the next entry in the much-loved franchise will require a bit of time before it materialises.
