Todd McFarlane Praises Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s Venom: ‘They Did A Nice Job Of Making Him Feel Like A Monster’

Venom co-creator Todd McFarlane has given the thumbs-up to Insomniac Games’ design of the character for the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

When asked by IGN what he thought about Venom, he brought up the his size, noting how he originally designed Venom to be larger than the average superhero. He noted the size of the character’s broad shoulders in the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 trailer in particular, and also praised Venom’s teeth for being more animal-like and crooked.

I think they did a nice job of making him feel like a monster. To me, I’m a big monster fan.

While he admitted he wasn’t really a fan of the tongue — noting that this feature was mainly attributed to his replacement artist, Erik Larsen — he praised Insomniac Games for doing a great job overall:

They’re making him look kind of vicious. He doesn’t seem like he’s coming to play nice, which to me is Venom the anti-hero.
