The Last of Us Part 2 has many different collectibles, but one of the most unique ones are Coins, which can only be found in the second half of the game. There are 32 coins spread throughout the final half of the game and in this The Last of Us Part 2 Coin Locations guide we will show you where to find every single one.
The Last of Us Part 2 Coin Locations
The Last of Us Part 2 does not have tradition chapters with names. Therefore, we have split the game up into what you do within the chapters and what the game calls them when you save.
Spoilers will be present in this guide including locations and gameplay mechanics and as you can read coins are found in a particularly spoiler-filled section of the game. However, we have labelled each section of this guide that contains its own story spoiler with a warning, so you can take this guide chapter by chapter.

A major spoiler warning for this guide as coins can only be collected once you reach a certain event within the game. Only read on in this guide when you have completed Ellie’s first three days in Seattle and you have watched the introductory cutscene which takes place after the events that occur when you return to the theater at the end of day three.

Chapter 23 – Tracking Lessons (1 Coin)
After you have made it through the park and past the gazebo, you will come across the next building, which is some public toilets. Smash the window and climb up to the ground level. On the green dumpster in the corner, which you need to move to progress, you can find the first coin, which represents Virginia.

Spoiler warning for this section of the game. Do not read on until you have completed this chapter and gained control of your character again once the flashback ends.
Seattle Day 1 (Abby)
Chapter 24 – The Stadium (4 Coins)
The first coin isn’t found until Mel and Manny both arrive at your room and you head outside into the stadium. As you exit, turn to your left and look on the floor, by some piles of wood, to find the Coin for Alaska.
Follow both Manny and Mel down the stairs until you get to the balcony with people doing their washing. Walk past the steps to your left and look on the next bench to find the Maine Coin.
After picking up Alice from the pen, you will walk into a tunnel with a large wolf painting on the wall. At the foot of that painting is the New Jersey Coin.
Inside the next room you will find the gun range and you can pickup your weapons. Ignore the range for now and continue through to the other end of the area. When you are in the long corridor with Mel and Alice, take a left to find the Coin for Vermont in the grey cabinet in the corner.
Chapter 25 – On Foot (4 Coins)
As soon as the chapter starts, you can find the first coin right away in the darkroom. Look to the right to find the Kentucky Coin on the table.
Eventually, you will reach the garden centre in the warehouse. Look at the last counter in the back left of the area to find the Massachusetts Coin.
After a while, Manny will get separated from you and Mel. Mel will then climb up onto the platform and open a door on the second floor. Head through that door and pick up the ladder in the corner. Place it on the wall just to your right and climb up it to find the coin for Ohio at the top on the table.
Once you have reunited with Manny you will see a brown trailer. Break the window and hop inside. On the table, you can find a coin for Indiana.
Chapter 26 – The Forward Base (3 Coins)
The first coin can be found at the start of the level, go up the stairs and behind the group of people talking by the vans on the right. The Coin for California is sitting on the ground.
Next, as you approach the large area with a lot of people, look to your left and head behind the group standing listening to someone. There are some toilets behind them. On the crate behind them, you can find the coin for New Mexico.
After you have talked with Nora and entered the building. Look at the table on the left where people are sitting, here you can find the South Carolina Coin.
Chapter 28 – Hostile Territory (1 Coin)
A little bit of the way into the level you will need to climb onto a car and campervan to get to the second story of a building. Jump up into that window and open the drawer at the back of the room next to the fan to get the North Dakota Coin.
Chapter 31 – The Coast (4 Coins)
After you leave the container area, which is filled with Infected, you will come to a highway. On the highway is a corpse and the Alabama Coin is sat next to it.
The next coin in found after you pick up the crossbow and enter the boat. From the lowest level of the boat, head up to the staircase and take an immediate right. Take another right to find the Coin for West Virginia sat on a briefcase.
Eventually, you will reach the back of the boat and need to climb a ladder. Once you have scaled it, turn around and look behind the part of the ship to find the Utah Coin.
Continue along until you reach the open entrance of the aquarium. To your right will be a fountain which has a coin for Mississippi hiding in the water.
Seattle Day 2 (Abby)
Chapter 33 – The Shortcut (2 Coins)
Early on when you get to the large waterfall ahead, head into the barbershop on the right. Behind the counter, you can find the coin for Nevada.
After you exit the phone shop called ‘Interbay’, enter the blue building at the other end. Turn to the right and hop out the window and onto the overhang. At the end of the platform, you can find the Colorado Coin.
Chapter 34 – The Descent (5 Coins)
At the very start of the chapter, when you land in the building, dive into the swimming pool to your left to find a Coin representing Illinois.
Much later on, you will come across a Shambler deep into the building. You will then jump down another floor on the main story path and an Infected will jump out at you. For the coin, turn around to where you jumped from and hop over the gap. On your right, next to the mirror, you can find the coin for Oregon.
Much later, you will open an elevator shaft. Immediately after exiting, look at the vending machine on the left. Smash the glass of it and a coin (Wisconsin) will fall out into the dispenser.
Just after the last coin, you will enter a plaza with a bar. Look behind the counter next to the cash register to find the Rhode Island Coin
At the very end of your level, when the WLF let Abby into the gate of the hospital compound, look to your right and head through the grass into the building. At the end of the corridor, you can find the Missouri Coin.
Chapter 35 – Ground Zero (2 Coins)
Early on in the level, you will go down a staircase with Nora (right after she tells the guards to go pick up some boxes), directly behind the counter in the seating area you can find the Washington Coin.
After the two boss fights, you will enter a flooded garage. As you enter, turn to the left to find a small security room. Smash the windows to find the Hawaii Coin in the security room.
Seattle Day 3 (Abby)
Chapter 37 – The Marina (2 Coins)
Right when the chapter starts, turn around and go up the stairs behind you. The Kansas coin is on the floor.
After the start of the chapter, you will reach the Tram Station ‘Lenora St. Station’. Go along the path to the right of the ramp to find the Louisiana Coin on the ground.
Chapter 38 – The Island (3 Coins)
The first coin is found after you climb up the first ladder in the chapter. On the left side, you can find a truck with a Coin for Idaho in the back.
The next coin is found shortly after. Once you see a waterfall, don’t drop down. Instead, check the car on the left. The coin is sitting on the ground.
The final coin is in the first enemy encounter. There are five huts here. At the back, along the path you need to progress, is the largest one. Opposite that is another small hut with barrels on the bottom. Use the wood to climb up to the top floor to find the Montana Coin.
Chapter 39 – The Escape (1 Coin)
At some point within the level, you will squeeze between a door and its frame. Outside is a giant white truck. Turn to your left to find the Arkansas Coin by the shopping cart. This is the final coin in the game.
