A report on Dealabs has claimed that a special edition release of an entry in The Last of Us franchise is coming to PS5 as a physical release, although right now it isn’t actually known what the game will be.
According to the report, this mystery special edition will retail for €119.99 / $109.99, and it is believed that preorders are set to open soon. As mentioned, there’s no word yet on what the game is, but presumably it has to be either The Last of Us Part I or The Last of Us Part II, or possibly a combination of both games as the article speculates.

The timing is interesting as the second season of HBO’s The Last of Us is just around the corner, so it could be that Sony is looking to re-release the first two games on PS5 to coincide with the TV show’s second run. In related news, Sony has announced that it is releasing a new The Last of Us-themed DualSense controller in April 2025, so this special edition may have something to do with that.
In related news, rumours of The Last of Us Part III have been doing the round for over a year now, although Naughty Dog has yet to announce a new game is in the works. Neil Druckmann was recently asked about a new entry in the series, to which he responded, “don’t bet on there being more of The Last of Us.” He did, however, clarify those comments by stating that he treats every game he’s worked on as if it was his last, so sequels are something that were never on the cards from the get-go.
