The Last Of Us HBO Season 2 Hasn’t Aired Yet, But Season 3 Has Already Been Confirmed

The Last of Us Season 3 on HBO has been officially confirmed by Naughty Dog on X, ahead of the premier date for Season 2 on April 13.

This may not come as a surprise to those who have been following coverage of the post-apocalyptic show, as showrunner Craig Mazin has always said that the events of The Last of Us: Part II would be split into two seasons, so a third always seem inevitable. In fact, Mazin has said that four seasons ‘sounds like a good number‘ for the series as a whole.

Speaking in wake of the announcement of Season 3, Mazin commented:

We approached season two with the goal of creating something we could be proud of. The end results have exceeded even our most ambitious goals, thanks to our continued collaboration with HBO and the impeccable work of our unparalleled cast and crew.

The Last of Us Season 2 on HBO will begin an adaptation of The Last of Us Part 2 from Naughty Dog, and is comprised of seven episodes. In addition to returning characters Joel (Pedro Pascal), Ellie (Bella Ramsey), and Tommy (Gabriel Luna), The Last of Us Season 2 introduces Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Young Mazino as Jesse, and Isabela Merced as Dina.
