Ellen Page, star of upcoming Quantic Dreams game Beyond: Two Souls, has claimed that Naughty Dog ripped off her likeness for its latest release The Last of Us.
The claim was made on Reddit, where she responded to a comment on the similarities between herself and Ellie.
"This has almost certainly been made clear to you several times," began MozeoSLT, "but are you aware how much you look like Ellie from "The Last of Us," a video game which came out about a week ago. She even sounds like you. So much so that almost everyone assumed it was you playing the role."
"I guess I should be flattered that they ripped off my likeness, but I am actually acting in a video game called Beyond Two Souls, so it was not appreciated."
Ellen didn’t respond to further questions by MozeoSLT, one of them asking whether she has seen any footage of Naughty Dog’s game, and if she would have taken on the role of Ellie if she had been approached.
Ellie has gone through two iterations, and the original version of Ellie was claimed to have resembled Ellen. Naughty Dog gave the character a redesign, and told Eurogamer that it wanted the character to resemble her voice, and that it was a "complete coincidence" that she had had a similar appearance to Ellen. It is unclear which version Ellen’s comment refers to.
Beyond: Two Souls is due for release October 9th in North America, and October 11th in Europe.
