The Last Guardian has received a permanent price drop across multiple retailers, bringing the MSRP of the critically acclaimed PlayStation 4-exclusive title down by almost 33 percent.
As a result of the price drop, you can now grab The Last Guardian for just $39.99. This applies to both the physical and digital editions of the game, and includes retailers such as Amazon and other major companies, notes Twitter user Wario64.
A price drop so soon after launch presumably means that The Last Guardian is having some trouble sitting tills alight, although Team ICO’s games aren’t exactly mainstream appeal; rather, the likes of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus are far more niche games that appeal to specific group of hardcore players. Sony has yet to confirm how well The Last Guardian has sold since its December launch, though it did at least manage to crack the U.K. Top Ten upon release.
Originally announced back in 2009 during Sony’s E3 presentation, The Last Guardian was planned as a PS3-exclusive before development shifted to the PS4 amidst numerous production issues. Upon its release late last year, the game had been in development for almost a decade, with Sony admitting the game would have likely been cancelled if it weren’t for the support of fans.
