Bethesda has announced in a livestream this afternoon that the long-rumoured The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is indeed real, and what’s more, it’s out now.
The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered includes a wealth of new features over the original 2006 version of the fantasy-RPG, using Unreal Engine 5 to completely overhaul the game’s visuals, such as the character models and lush, diverse locations that punctuate the realm of Cyrodiil.

Virtuos are indeed the studio who have partnered with Bethesda Softworks for The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered, as previously rumoured. The remaster also includes the Knights of the Nine and The Shivering Isles expansions, giving players the full Oblivion experience in one package.
The remaster preserves the distinct style of Oblivion from the original game, leveraging every major feature of the latest version of Unreal Engine 5 to achieve the stunning look of the remaster. Everything has been redesigned from scratch, and dynamic shadows, allowing the world to react naturally to light. Characters also spot more realistic lip-synching, something which was a bit wonky in the original game.
Meanwhile, the UI and UX have been updated fully, while the levelling system has been inspired by both Skyrim and Oblivion, offering the best of both worlds. Character models have been overhauled to allow for more realistic animations, while combat has sparks, blood spatters, and controller feedback to make it more modern and engaging.
In addition, new dialogue has been recorded so that each race now sounds unique, although the classic dialogue remains in tact so that fans of the original game will be right at home.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is out now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
