“The Campaign Is Back For Battlefield,” EA Announces For Next Battlefield Game

Today was a big day for EA and Battlefield, as we got our first look towards the next Battlefield game that’ll continue the franchise after Battlefield 2042.

The big announcement was Battlefield Labs, a new format through which players will be able to help the newly crowned ‘Battlefield Studios’ develop this next Battlefield game.

However there was another big announcement for the franchise meshed in with the reveal of Battlefield Labs. A single-player campaign is returning to the Battlefield franchise, after being absent in the previous games.

Of course at this early stage, like every other aspect of the next coming Battlefield game, there’s not a lot that we know for sure. We know that there will be a campaign, or at least some semblance of one, but we don’t know if it’ll actually follow a specific set of characters through a linear or branching narrative.

Or if it’ll be closer to the single-player content in Battlefield 1, where the ‘campaign,’ as it were, was just an anthology series of missions that had you jumping from one character to another, that felt more like a guided tour of the various features available in the game.

Hopefully when Criterion senior producer Danny Isaac says that “the campaign is back for Battlefield,” in today’s announcement video, he means something more akin to the campaigns we used to get in earlier Battlefield titles.
