The original Dying Light game from developer Techland launched all the way back on January 26, 2015, which makes yesterday (at time of writing) the official 10 year anniversary of the series.
Today, Techland announced a number of ways in which it’ll be celebrating the milestone. For the original Dying Light, players will be able to jump back into the game and play some old favourite events with new rewards, and there will even be “an update aimed at enhancing the game further,” Techland said in a press release.
Namely in regards to improving the visuals and adding a new remastered version of the soundtrack, though Techland also teases there’s more to come. When it comes to Dying Light 2, players can expect more changes to the prologue, and the permanent release of the co-op rougelite mode, Tower Raid.
Techland is also celebrating by giving anyone who has yet to jump into the Dying Light world a chance to do so at a supreme discount, with Dying Light 2: Stay Human being made available for under $20 USD.
While the discounts are great for players who’ve yet to dive in, and the new events and rewards are good for players who want another reason to jump back into Dying Light and Dying Light 2, neither of those address the fans who’ve had their fill of the first two games, and are looking for more.
Of course that’s where Dying Light: The Beast comes in, which is due to launch sometime this coming Summer 2025, but according to Techland, this summer has more in store than just the next Dying Light game.
The studio says this coming summer will be the launch of “the next era of Dying Light,” with Dying Light: The Beast only being the beginning of what’s to come.
“We’ll continue the series with multiple unannounced projects and will also go beyond video games with new board games, exclusive merchandise, original webcomic series and more on the horizon,” Techland said in a press release.
As a way to kick off the celebrations, Techland also released a video featuring the developers and the voice of Kyle Crane, Roger Craig Smith all thanking players and fans for the last 10 years. You can check that out, below.
