Stellar Blade developer Shift Up has said during its earnings report for FY 24 that it expects the planned PC version of the critically acclaimed title to outsell the PS5 version.
In the AAA game market, PC devices have a higher market share than consoles, so we expect the performance of the PC version to exceed that of the console version. We are particularly observing trends such as the significant expansion of the single-player action game market in the Asian gaming industry. We have identified and analyzed both successful and underperforming cases of console exclusives released on PC, and we are preparing to release the game in a way that ensures continued success in the PC market.

The studio added that it has taken steps to ensure the PC version will benefit from “optimisation, enhancing user convenience, adding supplementary content, and tailored marketing strategies unique to Shift Up”. In addition, it’s also looking to make Stellar Blade optimised for mobile PC settings including Steam Deck and Asus ROG Ally.
Stellar Blade was released for the PS5 in April 2024, and in November walked away with no fewer than seven gongs at the Korean Game Awards. As a result of the game’s success, Shift Up gifted its employees with a PS5 Pro and $3,400 cash bonus!
