Shining Resonance Refrain Mode or Original Mode – Which Is Best?

Shining Resonance Refrain Mode or Original Mode

Wondering whether to play the Shining Resonance Refrain Mode or Original Mode? Sega first released the JRPG (Japanese Role-Playing Game) in PS3 on 2014 and it’s recently released in July 2018 for PS4.

If you have already played the game, you’ll notice that there are two modes available, original and refrain. In this article, we will discuss the difference between Shining Resonance Refrain Mode or Original Mode. Then you can choose yourself which mode you prefer.

What’s Shining Resonance Original Mode?

The Original Mode is best for new players. Shining Resonance has been popular in Japan for a long time now, but it’s new to players in the west. So for new players, you may want to explore the Original Mode first.

It has all the characters and the same original storyline you can find in the Shining Resonance Refrain mode. Sega made minor but significant improvement on its latest release. Playing the Original Mode gives you a good grasp of the characters and gameplay. This will help you once you decide to play the Refrain Mode.

What’s Shining Resonance Refrain Mode?

The major difference between Original and Refrain is two additional characters in Refrain Mode. They are Excela Noa Aura and Jenius Aeon. There is no change to the story line or gameplay.

However, there are additional options like Night Events which leads you to date and romance with party members. There’s also some extra dialogue, but not too much.

So what’s your pick now? Is it Original Mode or Shining Resonance Refrain Mode? Our personal verdict is that if you’re new to this type of game, then play Original Mode first.

But if you want to finish the game with the full experience, start with the Shining Resonance Refrain Mode right away.
