SEGA has said that its plans going forward include releasing fewer new titles but will invest heavily in developers behind its biggest franchises, including Like A Dragon (Yakuza), Persona, and Sonic the Hedgehog.
The current business year ending March 31, 2025 saw SEGA release more than seven full games including Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Sonic X Shadow Generation, and Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble. However, for its next financial year running April 2025 — March 2026, SEGA said it will reduce the number of full games launched.

Full games refer to those that are not free-to-play, and so far we know the company’s upcoming slate includes Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, and Project Century. In addition, SEGA has also confirmed new entries in classic franchises such as Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe, Jet Set Radio, Streets of Rage, and Virtua Fighter.
The plan is currently being formulated, but we expect the volume of new titles in Full Game to be lower than this fiscal year. On the other hand, we expect continuous revenue contribution from repeat sales of new titles in Full Game this fiscal year and full-scale revenue contribution from new titles in F2P.
Atlus is an important studio for us to expand Japanese IPs overseas and we think it is necessary to strengthen it, and the studios involved in the Sonic and Like a Dragon IPs are also short of staff, and we are looking to reinforce personnel through additional hiring and M&A.
SEGA said back in December that it was exploring the idea of launching its own gaming subscription service.
