Rare has announced that the Sea of Thieves Closed Beta for PS5 owners will kick off on April 12 for Deluxe and Premium Edition owners, just a few weeks before the full version of the game sets sail for Sony’s flagship console.
Trophies will be disabled during the Sea of Thieves Closed Beta, but those of you participating in the test can earn Renown as well as the associated Season 11 Seasonal progression track currency and cosmetic rewards. These can be kept and will be accessible when the PS5 version of Sea of Thieves launches, and you’ll also be gifted 10 levels of Renown towards Season 12 progression track.

Closed Beta participants will not be able to engage with the Pirate Emporium, and will only be playing with other PlayStation players during this period. While Trophies will be disabled during the Closed Beta, progress towards them will be tracked, carried over and unlocked appropriately upon launch of the retail version.
Sea of Thieves for the PS5 is confirmed to run a 120 FPS, putting it on par with the Xbox Series X version of the swashbuckling adventure game. Sea of Thieves originally launched for Xbox One back in 2018, and is coming to Sony’s console on April 30.
