Firesprite Studios News PS5 Sony Twisted Metal Reboot

Scrapped Twisted Metal Reboot Was Reportedly A Battle Royale Game With Third-Person Shooting

A developer CV has revealed details on the cancelled Twisted Metal reboot at Firesprite Studios, which was to take the form of a battle royale game featuring third-person shooting.

Twisted Metal was originally in the works at Lucid Games before moving to Firesprite, with Sony initially wanting to have the game out to coincide with the Twisted Metal TV series. The CV mentions something called Project Copper, which is described as “a 3rd person vehicular action combat game” based on “a classic IP owned by PlayStation.”

The description further adds that the title had 3rd person shooter mechanics wrapped with 3rd person vehicle combat with the objective of being the last one standing.” It doesn’t mention Twisted Metal directly, but blurred images of the project were also showcased, making it obvious the game is based on the classic series.

The Twisted Metal reboot was reported to have been cancelled by Sony after the format holder made a wide range of layoffs last year.
