News PS5 Saints Row Saints Row 2022 Sales Volition

Saints Row 2022 Reportedly Sold 1.7 Million Units, Making It The Lowest-Selling Entry In The Series

Tyrin Stevenson, the former community and social media manager for Volition, has revealed on LinkedIn that 2022’s Saints Row reboot sold 1.7 million copies worldwide, making it the lowest-selling entry in the franchise.

For those out of the loop, Saints Row: The Third sold 5.5 million copies making it the series’ best-selling game, while Saints Row 2 shifted 3.4 million units and the original Xbox 360-exclusive moved two million copies. Saints Row 4’s total sales haven’t been revealed yet, but over one million copies of the game were sold in its opening weekend alone, so it’s probably safe to assume it outsold 2022’s entry.

Saints Row’s underwhelming commercial performance eventually lead to the closure of Volition in August last year, making it one of many casualties of Embracer Group’s mass layoffs. The same day that the studio’s closure was announced, Volition shot down rumours that it was working on a Saints Row 1 & 2 remake.

Right now the future of the Saints Row IP remains up in the air, as nothing has been announced by Embracer about another studio taking over the series’ reins.
