Insider Gaming has reported that Project Archipelago: Sniper Battle Royale has been cancelled after Tencent pulled its funding for the project.
Apparently the Chinese mega-corporation decided to pull out of the game following Sony’s widely-publicised flop with Concord, which shut down mere weeks after its launch in late August and was later pulled offline for good and its developer shuttered.

Rebellion, the studio behind the Sniper Elite franchise, hasn’t issued an official comment on the matter, and has remained silent on the battle royale project since August when it announced a three-day playtest.
Of course, while this battle royale spinoff for the Snipe Elite series may be dead (we won’t known for sure until Remedy pipes up), there’s still Sniper Elite Rebellion to look forward too, which is setting its scope sights on a January 30, 2025 release on PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.
