The PS5 Pro is reportedly set to feature a number of advanced ray-tracing elements seen in the unreleased RDNA4, despite its tech being based largely on RDNA3.
A list of the new ray-tracing features coming to RDNA4 was posted by Kepler on X, who claims that ‘most if not all’ of them will be heading to Sony’s as-yet unannounced PS5 Pro. These include Double Ray Tracing Intersect Engine, Ray Tracing Trilogy Pair Optimisation, BVH Footprint Improvement and more.
Back in March, it was reported by Insider Gaming that the PS5 Pro’s GPU would be a hybrid of RDNA 3 and RDNA 4 technology, and utilises the same Zen 2 CPU as the regular console. However, it’s not expected the CPU will run any faster than the standard PS5, which is reportedly down to backwards compatibility.
