Unsurprisingly, it’s real. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered has appeared on the PlayStation Store in Europe, with a price point of €24.99.

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remaster release is reportedly being lined up for this week, according to fresh reports on the long-rumored title.

Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Remastered Releasing This Week?

VGC believes that the revamp of 2009’s military shooter will arrive via the next PlayStation Store update, which drops tomorrow as per usual. It’s also supposedly being developed by Raven Software, who have helped out on the Call of Duty franchise for years now.

Again, it is believed that there will be no multiplayer component in the remaster, instead simply focussing on the campaign.

At this point, the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Remaster has been one of the worst-kept secrets in the industry. Rumors started back in 2018, at which point it was believed the remaster would be packaged with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 release rumors heat up

This didn’t happen, and chatter on the remaster slowed down before re-emerging late last year. Recently, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Remaster was leaked via the Korean game ratings board, and was also spotted in files for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare just last week.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 was originally released back in 2009 for the PS3, PC, and Xbox 360. You can read our review of the game here.

The game follows special forces unit Task Force 141, lead by Captain Soap MacTavish, as they attempt to apprehend Russian Ultranationalist party leader Vladimir Makarov, and the United States Army Rangers, as they defend the country against a Russian invasion.

Captain Price also returns, and players move back and forth between different playable characters during the campaign, covering multiple regions across the globe. There’s also an extensive multiplayer mode as you’d expect from a Call of Duty campaign, laying the groundwork for future instalments.
