Following reports that Beyond Good & Evil 2‘s cancellation is imminent by leaker Tom Henderson over the weekend, a new source has stepped forward and claimed that the game is actually still in the pipeline.
While the game is still reportedly in development, the source told Henderson that it’s still a long way off, and may not see the light of day until 2025.

Beyond Good & Evil 2 was announced way back in 2008, although its targeted platforms were never really confirmed at the time. It later became obvious the game would not arrive on PS3 and Xbox 360, and creator Michael Ancel admitted the game would have been ‘painful’ on those systems.
The project re-emerged at E3 a few years back, but it was clearly still in the early stages of development. This was backed up by the fact Ubisoft continued to hire for the project as recently as May 2021.
Things got more complicated when Ancel revealed that he was retiring from the games industry, although he insisted the game was being left in capable hands.
