When Rocksmith originally launched back in 2011, it looked to be the next step in the music games genre following the success of Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Instead of players needing to learn how to play a plastic guitar, they could learn how to really play guitar in a similar setting.
Rocksmith never hit the same level of popularity as its competitors, but it did get a sequel titled Rocksmith 2014, and on Thursday Ubisoft announced that Rocksmith 2014 will be removed from digital storefronts, along with all its DLC, this coming October 23, 2023.
If you’ve bought Rocksmith 2014 and any, or even all of its DLC song packs, you’ll still be able to download the base game and all DLC beyond the October 23 date, but if you feel like nearly a decade later now is the time to buy Rocksmith, then act fast.
The original Rocksmith was removed from storefronts back in 2021, so it was only a matter of time for the 2014 version.
Rocksmith is still around in 2023, though it exists as Rocksmith+, which you can use through your PC or mobile device.
