Capcom News PS5 Resident Evil 9 Resident Evil 9 Is A Big Reinvention

Resident Evil 9 Billed As ‘Big Reinvention Of The Series To The Same Level As RE4 & 7,’ Says Leaker

Noted Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem on X has revealed that the upcoming Resident Evil 9 is going to be a major reinvention of the long-running survival horror franchise, and remains confident that we’ll see the game officially revealed this year.

While he wasn’t able to reveal any concrete info on Resident Evil 9, Dusk Golem did say that Resident Evil 9 is going to be making some ambitious steps for the series and won’t simply play identical to the past few titles, including the remakes.

I’ll be tweeting a lot more about Silent Hill as I love the series & super excited for f, but I know a lot of people are also antsy at the lack of Resident Evil news for a year & a half now. The thing I think people will realize when RE9 is revealed is the reason this game is taking so long is because it’s like a big reinvention of the series, to the same level as RE4 & RE7. It’s not going to play just like RE7/RE8 or the Remakes, it’s trying new things & very ambitious. It will almost definitely be revealed this year, so just hold tight.

Resident Evil 9 has reportedly been in development for many years at this point, although Capcom hasn’t announced anything on the project other than it is being directed by the same person who helmed Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Dusk Golem did recently shoot down rumours that Jill Valentine will be one of the main protagonists alongside Leon S. Kennedy, and has previously claimed that RE9 will be set on an island in Southeast Asia.

Beyond Resident Evil 9, it has been heavily rumoured that Capcom is also working on remakes of Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil CODE: Veronica.
