Resident Evil 7 live action trailer gets us in the mood for PS4’s survival horror behemoth

Capcom has unleashed a spooky Resident Evil 7: biohazard trailer for your viewing pleasure.

Unlike the latest barrage of Resi 7 footage, this latest offering is live action-based, and chronicles the panic-stricken attempts of a lone survival attempting to escape from what appears to be the Baker household depicted in the Resident Evil 7 demo.

Resident Evil 7 trailer brings horror home

Resident Evil 7 is scheduled for release on January 24, 2017 for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. The PS4 version of the upcoming survival horror title is also fully playable in PlayStation VR from start to finish, a feature that will remain a Sony-exclusive for approximately one year. Players can test drive the game now via the Resident Evil 7 demo, which is available to grab from the PlayStation Store.

Set a few years after the events of the previous game, Resident Evil 7 sees gamers exploring a creepy plantation mansion in the fictional town of Dulvey, Louisiana in the southern United States. The game introduces newcomer Ethan Winters, an everyday chap who is searching for his missing wife, Mia, only to find himself stalked by the malevolent and cannibalistic Baker family.

Capcom is going back to the series’ roots with this latest franchise instalment, offering more emphasis on exploration and puzzle solving as opposed to heavy combat sequences. In addition, the game has eschewed the traditional third-person perspective in favor of a more intimate first-person viewpoint, which shares many similarities with recent titles such as Outlast and P.T.
