That’s at least according to The Verge, which mentioned about how older Astro headsets will be compatible with the PS5. The article reveals that Sony is looking to release “HDMI-to-optical audio splitter that will allow your headset to interface with the PS5 with no additional firmware needed,” thus accommodating those who own older headphones.

The PS5 will be released in holiday 2020, although an exact release date has yet to be nailed down. However, a mid-November launch rumor is starting to gather steam, which makes sense when you consider that month has played host to past consoles such as PS3 and PS4.

PS5 will feature full backwards compatibility with PS4 games, but the system will not be able to play PS3, PS2 or PS1 games.
