PS5 Pro Upscales Unpatched 1080p PS4 Games With ‘Enhanced Image Quality’ Option

With PS5 Pro out later this week, there’s been a lot of details leaking online about its specifications and ability to enhance both PS5 & PS4 games. In regards to backwards compatibility, it’s been revealed that the PS5 Pro is able to upscale unpatched 1080p PS4 games, which is the Boost Mode that Sony briefly spoke about on the PlayStation Blog.

As noted by YouTuber Mystic, a screenshot of the PS5 Pro settings menu has emerged online from a user who has got their hands on the console early. Here, it is revealed that there is an option for ‘Enhanced Image Quality for PS4 Games’ that can be turned on/off.

The description for this reads, “Improve the image quality of PS4 games to enjoy higher quality gameplay for some games. Turn this off if you experience unexpected behaviour during gameplay.”

Bloodborne was unsurprisingly one of the first games tested on this feature, which does showcase a noticeable increase in image quality. However, it’s not a huge improvement, and it should be noted that the frame rate is still stuck at 30FPS.
