News PlayStation 5 PS5 PS5 Sales PS5 vs Xbox Series X/S Sony Xbox Series X/S

PS5 Is Reportedly Outselling Xbox Series X/S By A Ratio Of 3:1

According to a video published by The Wall Street Journal, the PS5 is outselling Xbox Series X/S by 3:1, with Sony’s console having sold 61.7 million units worldwide compared to Microsoft’s 28.3 million.

The sales data estimates come via Aldora Intelligence, with the video itself discussing Microsoft’s current state in the games industry, almost painting them as the underdog despite them topping Nintendo in regards to revenue prior to acquiring Activision Blizzard. Furthermore, the Xbox format holder also pulled in $21.5 billion revenue during FY24, which was a record-breaker for the company.

Still, there’s no denying that the gap of 33.4 million consoles is a substantial one, and Xbox hardware sales in general have been sluggish compared to Sony’s. Microsoft has lately pivoted to shipping games on PlayStation consoles in addition to its own hardware, with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle the next major title set to hit PS5 in Spring 2025.

Looking ahead, Sony is gearing up for the release of its mid-cycle refresh, the PS5 Pro, which will ship on November 7, 2024.
