PS5 Is Now The Current Market Console Leader In The UK

The UK has seen over one million game consoles sold in the region during the first half of the year, with Sony’s PS5 sitting pretty as the market leading in this respect.

That’s according to GI.biz’s Christopher Dring on Twitter, who added that Nintendo Switch is in second place (to be fair, Ninty’s hybrid platform has been selling like hot cakes as of late) while Xbox Series X/S close behind in third place.

PS5 launched back in the UK in November 2020, and promptly sold out – as was the case pretty much everywhere across the globe. Despite stock shortages, Sony’s powerhouse console has managed to sell pretty well, with worldwide sales recently topping 7.8 million.

Sony’s new home console has seen a number of exclusive titles released so far, including the Demon’s Souls remake, Returnal and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Sony is however still catering to PS4 owners, as a number of upcoming juggernauts such as God of War Ragnarok and Horizon: Forbidden West are cross-generation releases.
