PlayStation Plus December 2016: Free games predictions for PS4

The anticipation is building as we head towards the festive month and the release of the PlayStation Plus December line-up of free games. So, here’s our predictions of some of the games that might make the cut.

Unravel
Electronic Arts are no strangers to putting some of their wares on the PlayStation Store for subscribers with some great titles, such as Dragon Age Inquisition, Dead Space 2 and Need For Speed: Most Wanted (Vita) all making appearances in the past. Unravel is a brilliant puzzle-platformer that features Yarny, an anthropomorphic creature made out of wool. Receiving high critical acclaim, Yarny uses his yarn to navigate environments and solve puzzles in a number of inventive ways. With a sequel already in the planning, now would be a great time to unleash this fun puzzler to the masses for free.

The Walking Dead Michonne
It was around this time last year that TellTale put The Walking Dead Season 2 in the PlayStation Plus line-up. With the impending launch of The Walking Dead Season 3 later this year, releasing The Walking Dead: Michonne would be a great advertisement. The three episodes of Michonne released as a standalone title in the interactive graphic novel series and added additional backstory to her character. Though fairly short, The Walking Dead: Michonne would be a solid addition to PlayStation Plus December.

Dying Light
Techland’s superb survival horror game was first released in 2015. Earlier this year we were treated to an Enhanced Edition, which featured The Following expansion and all previous DLC. With even more DLC planned, now would be the perfect time to bring in more people who haven’t played the original – if players like it they’ll buy the DLC and the expansion. It’s a no-brainer! Bring it on.

Gravity Rush Remastered
Gravity Rush was originally on PlayStation Plus a mere five months after its initial release on Vita. The remastered version launched on PS4 in February this year, and its high octane, gravity-defying gameplay was largely praised by critics. With Gravity Rush 2 due for release in 2017, giving players a taste of the action to hype up the new release would be a wise move indeed.

Hyper Light Drifter
PlayStation Plus subscribers usually get an indie title that may have been swept under the carpet on release, and it would be travesty if some people missed out on Hyper Light Drifter. Recently nominated at the Golden Joystick Awards in five categories, including Best Original Game and Best Audio, the newly-found fame for the pixelated role-playing game may mean that the developer holds back, but if Sony has struck a deal with them for this little gem you’re not going to be disappointed.

The PlayStation Plus December games have yet to be officially announced, but join in the fun and let us know which free games you’d like to see on the PlayStation Store next more.
