Plants Vs. Zombies: Battle For Neighborville has been trademarked by EA, which is likely the official title for the recently playtested Picnic.

Plants Vs. Zombies: Battle For Neighborville is the third entry in the “Garden Warfare” subfranchise, which is a third-person, PvP and PvE shooter that allows you to play as a variety of different plants and zombies.

Gematsu has confirmed the trademark, which likely suggests that a reveal is coming soon. Gamescom 2019 is set to begin on August 19, 2019, with Gamescom Opening Night Live. This is a show hosted by Geoff Keighley, the creator of The Game Awards. Electronic Arts (EA) are scheduled to make some announcements at this show, and the reveal of Plants Vs. Zombies: Battle For Neighborville is likely.

The title, Plants Vs. Zombies: Battle For Neighborville has actually been floating around on Reddit and forums for a few months now, increasing the likelihood that this is the title of the game. Most recently, EA sent emails out asking people to playtest the next Plants Vs. Zombies shooter, which is codenamed Picnic. That playtest has now ended; but unfortunately, no one is allowed to comment on the game as it was under an NDA. Along with this title, EA is scheduled to release a new Need For Speed title this year.

The Plants Vs. Zombies Garden Warfare sub-franchise has been around since 2014, with the first title making its debut during that year. We enjoyed the first title quite a bit in our review. Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 was then released in 2016, adding more playable plants and zombies, more game modes, and more content to the game on the whole. We once again enjoyed the title quite a bit in our review.

Plants Vs. Zombies: Battle For Neighborville is in development for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
