Oddworld Soulstorm has finally been given a PS4 and PS5 release date at Sony’s PlayStation State of Play February 2021 presentation. The game is out on April 6, 2021, and not only that, but will be one of the free PS5 PS Plus games for that month.
More than that, developer Oddworld Inhabitants has also released a new gameplay trailer to celebrate the occasion too.
Oddworld Soulstorm gives Abe the ability to scavenge, loot, and pick pocket items to craft useful tools and weapons, and you have the choice of playing the game as you see fit — as a non-lethal pacifist or an agent of chaos. In addition, the possession mechanic is vital to your progression, allowing you to use your foes’ strengths against them.
The PS5 DualSense controller also comes into play too, with haptic feedback allowing you to feel Abe’s heartbeat during tense moments. The game is made up of beautifully-crafted 2.9D worlds, and players have to try and liberate 1,000 Mudokons on their journey while solving puzzles and harnessing their collective energy.
