It’s official, Forza Horizon 5 will be coming to PS5, and it’ll be on the platform sometime in the Spring, Playground Games announced today. So now that one of Xbox’s ‘big three’ franchises has made the jump over to PlayStation, rumours are already stirring about what’s next.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Halo is claimed to be the next Xbox-exclusive franchise to cut its exclusive ties, according to Windows Central writer Jez Corden, who claimed to have heard that Master Chief’s adventures were on deck to be next.
Specifically players will be able to play through Chief’s original adventures, as Corden calls out Halo: The Master Chief Collection as the game that’ll be making its way across. Which makes total sense of course – how would PlayStation players know the story of what’s happening in Infinite if they didn’t play the original games?
Jokes about Halo’s narrative through-line aside, the original Halo games are (almost) all excellent shooters, and Halo has always had a unique feel compared to the rest of the first-person shooter market.
It’s ultimately exciting that more players who may have not otherwise been able to, will be able to check out such a storied franchise that has gone on to influence the industry at large.
If Halo really is next, then surely Gears of War isn’t far behind.
