No cross-platform play for Trine 2

Frozenbyte’s Lauri Hyvärinen has confirmed that Trine 2 will not feature cross-platform multiplayer functionality.

Speaking to PlayStation Universe in an interview to be published tomorrow, Hyvärinen explained:

“We’ve decided to keep multiplayer platform-specific. Trine 2 is our first multiplayer game and we really don’t want to mess it up, so this helps on the technical side. It also saves us the nightmare of trying to figure out all the non-technical issues that would have to be sorted out to allow this kind of stuff.”

Elsewhere, he also revealed that Trine 2 will include a Game+ option "and another extra mode" to encourage further replay value.

Trine 2 is currently scheduled for a late summer 2011 release on PlayStation Network, PC and Xbox Live.
