Crystal Dynamics is working on the next instalment in the Tomb Raider franchise as the series celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.
Publisher Square Enix confirmed that it will be marking Lara Croft’s latest milestone with ‘nostalgic content’ throughout 2021 alongside community features and some surprises, but we now know that the next game is in the pipeline.
Will Kerslake, the series’ game director, commented:
We envision the future of Tomb Raider unfolding after [the rebooted trilogy], telling stories that build upon both the breadth of Core Design and Crystal Dynamics’ games, looking to unify these timelines. With Tomb Raider’s extensive history, this is not an easy task, and we ask for patience as we go through the process.

Tomb Raider fans still have plenty to look forward too beyond the new game, with an animated series and movie sequel all in the pipeline.
