Minecraft has been updated once again by Mojang Studios, and in doing so has confirmed that the studio will be wrapping up support for the PSVR version in March 2025. Beyond that, the Minecraft update 2.97 patch notes reveal a host of bug fixes and other improvements have been made, which you can read below.
As previously reported on PSU, Minecraft is further expanding its reach with the addition of a native PS5 version of the game in celebration of its 15th anniversary.

- Experimental Features:
- Bundles introduced, allowing stacking of different items in one inventory slot.
- Bundles must be enabled in world settings; they fit one stack (usually 64 items) and can mix item types.
- Known issues include item icons appearing incorrectly on touch devices and bundles losing contents in certain scenarios.
- Blocks:
- Fixed issue with ghost water from retracting waterlogged blocks.
- Renamed and split “purpur_block” and “sponge” into unique instances.
- Updated block interactions for flying mobs, parrots, and placement rules for Kelp, Seagrass, and Turtle Eggs.
- Crafting:
- Firework crafting output updates with grid changes.
- Gameplay:
- Ominous bottle effects corrected.
- Fixed issues with boats, Lectern crashes, and player dismounting.
- Added new death message for Mace attacks.
- General:
- Fixed placeholder textures bug and added input glyph support.
- Renamed maximum framerate slider and improved How to Play labels.
- Items:
- Updated Banner Pattern and Smithing Template item names.
- Fixed block item variant issues and updated material reducer recipes in EDU edition.
- Mobs:
- Adjusted custom entity name display and Parrot imitation abilities.
- Multiplayer:
- Fixed invite screen substatus issue.
- PlayStation®VR:
- Support ending March 2025; no further updates or VR support post this date.
- Rarity:
- Re-evaluated item and block rarities; changes will align with Java Edition in future updates.
- Realms:
- Improved Realms Stories content display and fixed UI issues.
- Sounds:
- Added sounds for Sculk charge particles and Wither Skeleton steps.
- Stability and Performance:
- Fixed crash related to texture data loading.
- Touch Controls:
- Improved d-pad controls and fixed HUD hiding bug.
- Trial Chambers:
- Updated disposal management in chamber entrances.
- User Interface:
- Fixed subscription purchase softlock, interaction prompts, and HUD display issues.
- Vanilla Parity:
- Updated behaviors for Snow Golems, block names, and crafting details to match Java Edition.
