BioWare has confirmed that the Mass Effect Andromeda multiplayer co-op mode will utilise peer-to-peer to connect players, as opposed to going down the dedicated server route.
Game Producer Fernando Melo confirmed the news on Twitter alongside a shot of the Mass Effect multiplayer character select screen, which we’ve included below.
Mass Effect Andromeda’s online component will allow players to pick from a variety of races, including humans, Turians, Salarians, Kragon, and Asari. BioWare has said that the multiplayer will differ somewhat from what we saw in Mass Effect 3, although we’ll have to wait until launch to play it, as the planned beta test has been scrapped. The company also indicated how much space the game will take up on PS4, so make sure you have enough space free for launch.
Mass Effect Andromeda is scheduled to ship for PS4, PC, and Xbox One in North America on March 21 and in Europe on March 23. Set six hundred years after the events depicted in the original trilogy, Andromeda sees players exploring a brand new galaxy as pathfinder Ryder, who is tasked with finding a new home for humanity.
