Data from Circana has revealed that Marvel’s Wolverine was the best-selling video game in the US for September 2026, with sales of PS5 hardware also enjoying a major spike in sales.
Insomniac Games’ blood-drenched superhero title recorded the highest launch-month dollar sales for a Sony-published title since Helldivers 2 back in February 2024. As a result, PS5 revenue saw a 43% increase compared to the same period last year, recording the highest hardware sales for Sony since May 2025.
Elsewhere, Ampere stated that Marvel’s Wolverine is the second-best selling PS5 game in September with 2.16 million copies sold, with only EA Sports FC 27 outperforming it. Circana’s data added that NBA 2K27 has now eclipsed Resident Evil Requiem as the best-selling game of the year so far, and eight of the top ten best-selling games for last month were new releases.
Total video game hardware unit sales were down 3% during September year-on-year, although PS5 increased by 22% while Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S dipping 14% and 27%, respectively. Here’s the full Top 10 software for September 2026:
