Insomniac Games‘ Jeanette Lee has revealed during an interview with publication golem.de that players will be able enjoy the Coney Island Park rides in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Lee was asked about the future of open-world superhero games, to which she revealed that it’s more about creating more moments for players to enjoy, rather than expanding a location further.
It’s not necessarily about expanding a metropolis even further. It’s about making the moments better, creating more exciting situations. We want players to enjoy every moment, but also to complete the story.
The Coney Island amusement park in Spider-Man 2 is a good example of this. You can ride rides and get to know the place, especially if you’ve never been there before. By the way, we built this environment during the corona pandemic and it was almost a kind of vacation for all of us.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 went gold last week, meaning production is now complete and the game will enter manufacturing ahead of its release on October 20, 2023.
