The lead combat designer for Marvel Rivals has revealed in a new Developer Vision video that the development team are working on improving the game’s animations and other visual elements in time for launch, as well as dishing out buffs for various characters.
Zhiyong confirmed that a lot of tweaking has been applied to animations for characters, in particular “larger-than-life” antics performed by the likes of Magic and Hulk. Meanwhile, sound has also seen some improvements in regards to impact effect, with “refined” mixing helping to indicate “impending danger.”

In terms of characters, Magneto will receive some nerfs when he arrives at launch, after causing a lot of trouble during the beta period. However, Jeff and Loki will be getting buffed, although to what extent we don’t currently know.
Back in September, NetEase revealed that it considers ‘no character is off limits‘ when it comes to the game’s roster, providing they bring ‘something good’ to the table. Marvel Rivals is scheduled for release on December 6, 2024 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
