Digital Foundry has revealed in a new video that a Helldivers 2 PS5 Pro upgrade has quietly landed despite no official announcement from Sony or Arrowhead Game Studios. It does, however, coincide with the release of the Servants Of Freedom Warbond, which is now available for the PS5 and PC bug-blasting sequel.
As detailed by the pixel wizards’ latest video, the Helldivers 2 PS5 Pro update features major improvements to key areas such as resolution, image quality, and frame rate.
Sony hasn’t announced it and neither has developer Arrowhead. The PlayStation Store has no ‘PS5 Pro Enhanced’ branding but we’ve tested it and it is true: Helldivers 2 is now PS5 Pro enhanced, featuring significant improvements to resolution, image quality and frame-rate stability.
The DF report reveals that Helldivers 2’s Performance Mode has seen some major improvements when running on the PS5 Pro, at least compared to the base PS version. Sony’s high-powered console offers more stability, with fewer shimmering visible and image is overall “more coherent in motion.” In terms of rendering, the PS5 Pro bumps things to 1440p over the 1080p PS5 version, though DF didn’t spot any evidence of dynamic resolution.
