Seeing PlayStation’s classic shooter series Killzone represented in Helldivers 2 is a match made in the dreams Killzone fans who are playing Helldivers 2 because there aren’t any new Killzone games to play, so you take your sci-fi shooters where you can get them.
What definitely wasn’t part of that dream though, is the fact that the just announced armor and weapon set would give you less than what you get in a Warbond, and cost significantly more.
The backlash was swift, and Arrowhead Game Studios alongside Guerilla Games have responded just as quickly. The next part of the set arriving next week will be free for all players.
“We’re here to talk to you about our crossover with Killzone, which added new premium items to the Superstore,” the studio began in a statement posted to the Helldivers 2 Steam page.
“As this was our first crossover offering, we’ve been listening to the response, and the feedback we’ve received from our community surveys is that crossover content is really high up on your wishlists.
At the same, some of you are not happy with the prices of the items and we will revisit this…Because of all this, in partnership with our friends at Guerilla (and as we’re in the season of holiday cheer), we’ve decided to offer a gift to all players.
Firstly, we are gifting to everyone the planned second wave of the Helldivers x Killzone collaboration items today, free of charge.”
It’s not a bad gift, but there’s also still the fact that the first half of the collaboration will remain at its current eye-watering price. Though, Arrowhead has also granted players five more days of them sticking around the shop to be purchased.
What could be a ray of light perhaps is that Arrowhead does add that it is “investigating solutions for how we can bring these items back permanently in the future,” which means if/when they do return, it’ll likely be for a lower cost, or even free if Helldivers 2 goes long enough that the PlayStation platform hits another anniversary year.

We’re here to talk to you about our crossover with Killzone, which added new premium items to the Superstore.
As this was our first crossover offering, we’ve been listening to the response, and the feedback we’ve received from our community surveys is that crossover content is really high up on your wishlists.
At the same time, some of you are not happy with the prices of the items and we will revisit this.
Many of you were also concerned that items wouldn’t be in rotation for long enough, and there was a bit of concern around how these items exist outside of our usual Warbond releases, which are always themed in our own universe.
Because of all this, in partnership with our friends at Guerrilla (and as we’re in the season of holiday cheer), we’ve decided to offer a gift to all players.
Firstly, we are gifting to everyone the planned second wave of the Helldivers x Killzone collaboration items today, free of charge. The distribution of those items will begin shortly, in two waves.
As such we’re also going to extend the duration of the items currently in the Superstore from 5 days to 10 days so that you have a chance to get hold of it and reduce the risk of missing out.
We’re also investigating solutions for how we can bring these items back permanently in the future.
The W.A.S.P. stratagem will be available for you all to unlock via a major order shortly.
