Harmonix Confirms Rock Band 4 Will Be Fully Backwards Compatible On PS5

Harmonix has confirmed in a blog post that Rock Band 4 will be fully backwards compatible on PS5 when the new console launches next month.

In the blog post, Harmonix confirms that all of Rock Band 4 and its DLC will work on day 1. The studio also believes that all previously supported instruments will work on Sony’s new console. You can also transfer your save data to PS5 via cloud saves or using hard drive transfers. Keep in mind that Rock Band 4 will be a backwards-compatible game, rather than a separate release. Cross-Gen multiplayer will also be available.

When it comes to performance, the PS5 will speed up load times for the game, allowing you to get into the action fast. On PS5, the game will default to the controller’s microphone and you will need to change to a USB mic in the settings if you wish to use that. And, on PS5 connecting instruments works the exact same way as it did on PS4.

The full list of instruments that Harmonix have tested with the PS5 are as follows, but if an instrument works on PS4 it should work on PS5:
